That solution says select Master Explorer. On My Visio that is greyed out. The problem is listed for Visio and that suggest going to Cntrl A to select all shapes, View, Developer, Protection and selecting none which did not work.

If you want to create a master shape and use Master Explorer, please try to do following steps:. Select one of the stencils and save it to your My Shapes folder.

Open this stencil from the Stencil window. Right-click on the stencil header, select Edit stencil. Double-click a suitable shape, a shape edit window will open.

Select the Master Explorer window from the Developer tab. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback.

Regards to question from Paul Herber. I have copied over the title block I am using from Visio Visio converts the title block by adding rectangle box around each text entry and I trying to get rid of the rectangle boxes and convert back to just text in each location. Not sure what is meant by Stencil window. Not sure what to do with double click a suitable shape as I already had the shape when I started. I selected a rectangle.

I find Master Explorer is greyed out. Select shape. Select Design , Themes, Selected no theme. But I still get the error message. Tried selecting one of the text boxes, selected no theme.

No progress. I’m trying to edit the Master Shape per other online instructions. On My Visio , select Master Explorer is greyed out. I’m guessing I should be able to use Master Explorer to create a Master Shape for this new stencil that mimics the plain look of the Visio Org Chart diagrams.

What are you trying to do, and to which shape? Taking George’s steps. In reply to techcoor’s post on January 8, It’s themes that are playing around with your shapes. Disable themes for this shape. Use the design tab to change this. Visio didn’t have themes, when themes were introduced many shapes became broken by themes overiding things like shape borders, this is what is happening to your shape, a text box is just a normal box that can contain text but with no border, until themes messed things up.

In reply to Paul Herber’s post on January 8, I decided to just go to a Visio drawing, deleted all text from the title block, copy the title block to Visio and repopulate all the text. That is my work around. My wife is trying to create simple Org Chart diagrams ala Visio How do I do this?
